Inter-Church Ministries

Not sure how to talk to people on the phone about the Lord? There's an album for that!

Dr. Jack Van Impe

Apparently there was a time when a man could earn a decent living as an ACCORDION PLAYER...in NIGHT CLUBS. Try to picture that.

Vernon and Ruth Ann

You know how, when people are married for a while, they start to look alike?

Bill Warren

Why is Bill looking at me like he's the hungriest man on earth and I'm a fried chicken?

Al Boyd

Catch Big Al every weekend, 2 shows a night, down at the Golden Corral...

Teen Challenge Addicts Choir

Something about this cover reminds me of a 'B' movie about a women's prison.

It's another Creepy Album Cover of the Year nominee.

Louisiana Teen Challenge Choir

Remember when you could put a rainbow on your album cover and no one raised an eyebrow?

David Wilkerson

Another inspiring, uplifting, encouraging message from Brother Dave!

Mike Crain

Mike Crain. "Power Team" pioneer.

The Calvary Chords

"I don't want to be here. This is stupid," said Billy (far right, with the sideburns).

Sherwood Singers

Those lapels were certainly "something special"...

"We need to find an awe-inspiring photo of a beautiful bridge. Then the graphic designer can cut our picture out and people will think we were actually standing next to the bridge...It'll be great..."

The Louvin Brothers

Yes, Satan is real. The cartoon devil behind us? Not so much.

Sharla & Tommy McNeely

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Only problem was that Photoshop hadn't been invented yet...

The Spirit and Life Team

By the time The Spirit and Life Team recorded this album, lead singer Pat (seated, center) had almost fully transitioned.

Evangelist Jay Snell

I'm just going to leave this right here.

Eddie Ballantine and His Band

I saw a few "Jericho marches" at church when I was a kid...but never at home in the dining room...

Joe Atkinson

...so did he just record the same song ten times?

Jerry and the Goffs

"Spirit-Filled Six Pack?" Oh, I get it...there's six guys in the group. Hey, you had to at least give Jerry credit for pushing the envelope. This was recorded when Groucho Marx was still in the group (far left).

The Singing Carpenters

The Singing Carpenters were outstanding in their field. Literally.

No relation to Richard and Karen.

The Singing Walters Family

Ill-fitting leisure suits were a sign of deep devotion and superior talent in the 1970s.

The Adams Family

They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky...and they have a customized VAN!

Templemen

He saw our lapels and loved us anyway.

Jim Lyons

"How to Rear Children for Sin, Shame, Rebellion and HELL." Just another lighthearted, encouraging message from Evangelist Jim Lyons.

Alternate cover:

Jack Hazlewood

"Jack Tells It Like It Is About His Life." Now we just use social media for that.

Renee

"Call me Big Girl one more time and you gonna be pickin' your face up off the floor."

The New Hope Singers

A weird cartoon of a guy with a gun chasing a bear on the front cover of a Gospel choir album? Sure, why not?

Chip Stalnecker

SCARY!

Imagine being a young kid who owned this record in the 70s. You'd have nightmares every night with ole Chip lookin' at you with that one creepy eye. Even his name was scary...Stalnecker.

Art director: "I have a great idea for the album cover. We'll have a super-dark, partially obscured photo of you, Chip, lurking in the shadows, glaring at the camera like you just killed somebody. But then we lighten the mood by having you hold a guitar and we'll call the record 'Sonshine.' Waddya say?"

Steve Stanfield

David Cassidy was known to Christian audiences as "Steve Stanfield."

Tommy Phelps

God got him with a piledriver and Tommy's been preaching ever since.

The New Creations

Join The New Creations on their magic carpet ride!

Elder Ron Halvorsen

Call me crazy, but something tells me Brother Ron was never in a "gang"...

The Speer Family

In honor of Ben Speer (2nd from right, arms crossed), who passed away today, April 7, 2017 at age 86. We love bus photos here at The Wacky World of Gospel Album Covers. When you add the element of sitting on the suitcases, bags packed and ready to climb in the old motor coach...well, this was just too good to pass up.

Ben Speer was part of The Speer Family for more than six decades. He also served as music director for the popular Gaither Homecoming video series. Speer was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1995.

Parker Willson

"I'll Walk with God." But first, I need to just stop and take a breather on this tree limb...

Bobby Mankin

"Doomed by Dope." Another inspiring, uplifting message from Brother Bobby.
